This is a partial list of occasions on which I have been a featured literary reader. I am very flattered that I am invited so often that I have turned down more features than I have accepted through the years. They are always a pleasure, and I’ve gotten to hear a lot of great poetry when it was others’ turns to read.
I have excluded from the list those times when I have been part of large poetry readings such as Hilbert College’s Common Grounds literary events, and the Hilbert Café. For years Buffalo’s Urban Epiphany gathered crowds of poets to read. I have also been part of readings for book and magazine releases such as the Mo’ Joe Anthology reading at Dog Ears Books, and the Images reading at Erie Community College. I have not included any of these mass readings either. I have included readings where there were a large number of invited readers, as well as those readings where my writers group as a whole read, but I have noted them as such. This list is far from complete. For example, I know I read at more than one Arisia in Boston, and I was featured at Confluence before 2003, and I know I was featured at Borders Books more than once; but I have no records of these features. I have more records of appearances at Goddard College in the attic. I am certain I was featured at The Spot and Contradiction more than is reflected here. You get the idea. Strangely, I have fewer records of the last ten years that the ten years before that. Go figure. On the other hand, I am missing many readings from the 90’s. It did not occur to me to start keeping track until 2000. The fact that my readings become infrequent after 2005 reflects my entrance into the endless marathon of graduate school. Sometimes I have additional data regarding who else might have been featured with me. More often I have few details. If I don’t list any additional featured reader, that doesn’t mean there wasn’t one, just that I have no record. One of the details that is occasional is when I was the MC or host of a reading. I have been the host at nearly all of the poetry readings held at EerieCon for the last seventeen years. At some point I will mine my printed records to flesh out what is here so far. |
